Living My Best Life: Small Daily Habits That Make a Big Difference

By

We all have different ideas of what it means to live our best life, but for me, it’s about feeling energized, confident, and balanced every single day. It’s not about extremes or perfection—it’s about making mindful choices that support my health, beauty, and overall well-being.

Here’s a breakdown of the simple daily habits that help me feel my absolute best.

🕶️ Sunglasses Always

Protecting your eyes isn’t just about looking cool—it’s a must for eye health and anti-aging. I wear sunglasses every time I step outside to shield my eyes from UV damage and prevent squinting (aka, fewer wrinkles). Plus, they instantly elevate any outfit.

☀️ SPF Daily: The Ultimate Skincare Rule

No matter the weather, sunscreen is non-negotiable. Sun damage is the number one cause of premature aging, so I apply SPF every single morning to protect my skin. Bonus: it keeps my complexion even and prevents dark spots.

🌞 Getting My Vitamin D

While SPF is essential, I still make sure to get my daily dose of natural sunlight for that much-needed Vitamin D boost. A little morning sun (before peak UV hours) does wonders for mood, energy, and immune health.

No Caffeine After 4 PM

I love my morning coffee, but after 4 PM, caffeine is off-limits. Keeping my afternoons caffeine-free helps me wind down properly, sleep better, and wake up feeling refreshed. Instead, I opt for herbal tea in the evenings.

🚫 Limit Fast Food, High Fructose Corn Syrup, & Red Meat

Fast food – Too much grease, salt, and hidden additives.

High fructose corn syrup – Processed sugars = inflammation & energy crashes.

Red meat – Lighter proteins keep me feeling lean and energized.

Instead, I try to stick to whole, nutrient-rich foods that fuel my body without the sluggish aftermath.

🥦 2-4 Servings of Vegetables a Day

Eating colorful, fiber-rich vegetables daily keeps my skin glowing, digestion smooth, and energy levels high. I aim for 2-4 servings per day, whether it’s leafy greens, roasted veggies, or a smoothie packed with spinach.

🥛 Low-Fat Dairy Products Only

When I do consume dairy, I keep it light and simple—low-fat yogurt, almond milk, and a bit of cheese here and there. Keeping it low-fat helps with digestibility and avoiding excess saturated fats.

🌿 Using Spices & Herbs Instead of Salt

Salt is fine in moderation, but I try to flavor my meals with spices and herbs instead. Turmeric, black pepper, garlic, basil, and rosemary not only add flavor but also provide powerful health benefits like reducing inflammation and boosting immunity.

🧘‍♀️ Breathe in a Box (Box Breathing)

Stress happens, but how we handle it makes all the difference. One technique that helps me reset is box breathing:

• Inhale for 4 seconds

• Hold for 4 seconds

• Exhale for 4 seconds

• Hold for 4 seconds

This simple practice calms my nervous system and keeps me grounded throughout the day.

Black Coffee

I try to keep my coffee drinking to a minimum. Switching from my long list of ingredients to clean and simple—no sugar, no cream, just black coffee. It keeps me sharp, focused, and free from unnecessary calories.

🌾 No Gluten

I’ve ditched gluten for better digestion, clearer skin, and less bloating. Instead, I reach for gluten-free grains like quinoa, rice, and oats to keep my meals balanced and satisfying.

🌿 Lots of Fiber

Fiber is a game-changer for digestion, gut health, and feeling full longer. I make sure to eat plenty of fiber-rich foods like oats, chia seeds, beans, and vegetables to keep my metabolism and energy levels steady.

🚫 No Back Sleeping

Sleeping on my back leads to puffiness and potential wrinkles, so I make a conscious effort to sleep on my side instead. It’s a small habit that makes a big difference for facial structure and skin health over time.

🏡 Home by 10 PM Every Day

A consistent sleep schedule is the secret to clear skin, high energy, and a balanced mood. No late nights, no all-nighters—just rest, recovery, and discipline. Being home by 10 PM ensures I get enough sleep to wake up refreshed and ready to conquer the next day.

Simple Habits, Big Impact

None of these habits are extreme, but together, they create a routine that makes me feel my best. I’m not perfect, and neither are my habits and routines, but having a baseline to follow is still helpful! It’s all about balance, mindfulness, and choosing what makes you feel energized, confident, and at peace.
