We often define ourselves by how we look, achievements, status, or what society expects from us.
The pressure from the outside world becomes heavy when we focus on our own understanding of ourselves.
Comparison will steal your joy.
Perfectionism will have you believing you are not good enough.
Self-doubt will take away your freedom.
God sees your value, love, and purpose regardless of how you view yourself.
If you’re looking for a simple way to start each day aligned with God’s perspective, I’ve created a collection of daily affirmations designed to remind you of your worth and purpose. You can explore them here.
Bridging the gap requires conscious effort: slowing down, turning our gaze from mirrors and screens to scripture and prayer, and allowing ourselves to internalize the truth of God’s perspective.
It’s a process of learning to hear His voice above the noise of self-doubt and societal standards. And when we do, that gap begins to shrink, replaced by clarity, peace, and a renewed sense of worth that no human measurement can touch.
God sees you differently. He sees parts of you that haven’t even been discovered yet.
As we grow in seeing our worth through God’s eyes, we naturally begin to see others differently too. The friend we criticize, the stranger we overlook, the family member we judge—all of them are also created in His image. This mindset fosters empathy, patience, and grace, and transforms how we live, interact, and love in the world.
His image is not about outward appearances— but about spirit, character, and heart.
When we shift our gaze from our image to His, we begin to see not flaws, but reflections of love, grace, and divine purpose.
You are perfectly and wonderfully made.
The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7
