Healing is not linear. It’s a process of choosing a different path and standing on your choice. It’s continual growth and improvement function. It looks different for everyone. Set back’s & adversity are inevitable.
The Reality of Healing
Healing looks like something unique for each individual. For some, healing is releasing trauma from the past, and for others, healing is releasing limiting beliefs or habits. The truth is, healing doesn’t happen one “right” manner. Your healing is yours alone, and comparing your healing journey to the healing journey of others only detracts from the progress you’ve made.
Setbacks and adversity will come. Just when you believe you’ve made progress, adversity will challenge your strength. But healing is not about avoiding adversity; healing is about your reaction to adversity. Every adversity you face is a test for you to reaffirm your commitment towards progress.
Growth Is Dependent upon Choice
Healing requires you to make the conscious decision to press through, even when you don’t want to. To break the habits you know, battle the negative thoughts, and replace them with the things you need instead. Some will pass easily, some will pass seemingly impossible. But the act of keeping going—to maintain your stand about your choice to heal—is where the real transformation happens.

Healing is not something you reach; healing is something you work towards every day, even when you don’t necessarily want to do the work. Setbacks aren’t failures; setbacks are indications you are expanding. Keep picking yourself up, keep holding your line, and know each step you make—each tiny one, each difficult one—is bringing you towards progress.
